Sited on a hill overlooking district views and Little Sirius Cove this home underwent extensive re-design on the original footprint. By opening up the North elevation over two levels the architect created an infusion of light which created a design challenge – we designed a screen to cover the double volume windows – to embrace the light but afford the family some privacy. It creates beautiful shadows throughout the 3 levels of the house, changing as the sun moves.
The architecture is semi-industrial, featuring ‘I’ beam columns and exposed bolts. Our challenge was to weave a homely aesthetic into the decoration, without conflicting with the architectural envelope, and fulfil the brief for a contemporary, eclectic and dramatic interior.
